ESCROW ASSISTANT

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Escrow Assistant is responsible for preparing the residential and commercial title transfer and refinance files for the Escrow Officers and performing specific functions necessary to the entire escrow process. 

 

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

· Education & Experience:

· Minimum high school graduate, (preferably 1-2 years college or business school)

· Minimum 2 years experience in Escrow Assistant role

· Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), Internet, and Title Software)

· Minimum typing speed of 45 w.p.m.

· Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

· Ability to deal with all levels of organization and have impeccable customer service skills

 

Physical Requirements:

· Requires occasional lifting, standing, pulling, pushing, and bending.  Must have the ability to lift, carry, or push/pull objects weighing 25 pounds or less.

 

Mental Requirements:

· Convey information and ideas clearly

· Evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately

· Initiative in job performance and self-motivated

· Handle pressure well  and remain poised and professional

· Effectively handle problems in the workplace; including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary

· Assimilate complex information, data, etc., from disparate sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need

· Effective listening skills – understanding and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and customers

· Solid understanding of financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions

 

PRIMARY DUTIES & FUNCTIONS OF ESCROW ASSISTANT

· Prepare the escrow file (prepares commitments, reviews purchase agreements, note filing date, notify Escrow Officer of any concerns, rush orders, etc.)

· Orders all necessary closing documents (e.g. water status, survey, payoffs, etc.)

· Prepares CPL and sends to lender with preliminary CD, HUD-1, or other closing statement, etc.

· Prepare new deed and send to Attorney for approval

· Hand off the files to the Escrow Officers, once all duties have been completed

· Prepare pre/post-closing checklists and attach required documents prior to placing title file/jacket in policy area

· Assists customers with inquiries and information requests (within the scope of their knowledge base)

· Assists in handling any post closing calls and follows up on any outstanding requests

· Maintains accurate records and follows company procedures

· Other duties as assigned
